In 2016, Skayl started with that question. The founding team came from aerospace and defense, where they kept hitting the same roadblocks: months – sometimes years – of custom code, manual interface work, endless certification loops.
The conventional answer was to push harder on the existing model. We took the opposite premise: integration shouldn't be an engineering effort. It should be infrastructure.
That principle became CinC, the Configurable Infrastructure Capability, and PHENOM, the model-based engineering platform that drives it. Together, they make it possible to integrate, recompose, and upgrade defense systems without modifying OEM software, without reopening certification, and without paying the integration tax on every cycle.
Skayl's founders are active members of The Open Group's FACE™ Consortium. Skayl personnel currently serve as Vice-Chair of the Data Interoperability Group, Co-Chair of Language Subcommittee, Chair of SDM Subcommittee, and Co-Chair of Enterprise Services Committee for the FACE Technical Standard; contributing authors of the UDDL standard; and Co-Chair of the Architecture Committee and lead Data Modeler for the SOSA Technical Standard.
